As small business owners and entrepreneurs, we have so many day to day tasks to handle, logistics to work out, and long term planning to focus on, there is not always time, energy, or focus for managing a social media presence. Whether you are just starting out, or want to revamp your social presence, here are a few pointers to keep in mind when setting up your business’s facebook page.
- Grab your vanity URL as soon as possible. No one wants to type in a series of random numbers, so be sure to make it your business’s name or some variation of it that is easily recognized and remembered. To change your Facebook URL, go to the About tab on your page, and click “edit Facebook web address”.
- Link your Facebook page to your website, all promotional materials, business cards, flyers, receipts, email signature, pretty much everything! It’s a simple as typing “follow us on Facebook” with the link to your page. Consider creating a QR Code for paper/physical materials for ease of access. Adding a Facebook “like” button, and even a feed to your website can be extremely effective.
- Use high resolution logos and photos for a clean appearance. This is a pretty obvious one, but there are so many businesses using fuzzy graphics and blurry images. WHY??? You don’t have to be a graphic designer to see that these images do not present the absolute best side of your business. Size these images to fit the specifications set forth by Facebook for profile photo, cover photo, photos in ads, and photos in posts. Websites like Canva have ready made templates according to these specific dimensions and are extremely user-friendly.
- Fill out the About sections completely, including addresses and contact information. This is how customers will find you! Facebook searches often yield location specific results. Don’t lose out on customers because you forgot to enter your city or town. A half filled in About page makes your Facebook page look unprofessional and will make folks question whether your business is legit or not.
